Cup o’ Joe: Finding the Quiet Amid the Busy Concrete Jungle

An urban coffee kiosk designed as a sheltered pause within the movement of the city.

Cup o' Joe interior overview
“Finding the quiet amid the busy concrete jungle.”

Against a background of steel and stone, Cup o’ Joe stands as a quiet refuge—where industrial grit meets organic warmth. Corrugated metal and raw concrete shape its form, softened by the natural elegance of wood and greenery. The open façade welcomes the hustle of daily life, while the extended canopy offers a sheltered pause, a moment of stillness within the rush.

This kiosk is more than just a coffee stop; it is a carefully crafted contrast—where urban motion slows into quiet retreat. Through thoughtful design, Cup o’ Joe transforms a fleeting moment into an experience, proving that even in the busiest landscapes, architecture can whisper serenity.

01 THE PAUSE

The kiosk needed to remain open and visible while creating enough shelter to feel like a moment away from the street.

02 MATERIAL CONTRAST

Corrugated metal and concrete provide the industrial structure; timber, planting and warm light keep it from feeling hard or closed.
